Margaret Chiu Greanias
Writing stories to delight children
About Me
Hello! My name is Margaret Chiu Greanias, and I am a picture book author. I try to include heart and humor in every story I write.
My favorite childhood memories include tooling around the neighborhood on my pink, banana-seat bike, catching minnows in the “bayou” with my older brothers, and reading piles of picture books in the cool library on hot, Texas summer days.
If you told me that I would be an author when I grew up, I would have said you were dreaming. Writing for me was always a struggle whether it was open-ended homework questions, term papers, and especially essays. But my last year in college, I fell in love with creative writing. Today, writing is still a struggle, but I’ve realized the struggle helps me to figure out what I’m trying to say.
I am the author of How This Book Got Red, which was an October Amazon Best Book For Ages 3-5 and received a starred review from Kirkus Reviews; Amah Faraway, which was a Junior Library Guild selection, a 2023 Bank Street Best Childrens Book Of The Year and received a starred review from School Library Journal; Hooked on Books, and Maximillian Villainous.
I am the daughter of Taiwanese immigrants. I grew up on both coasts + Texas. However, I currently live in the San Francisco Bay Area with my husband, three children, and a fluffle of dust bunnies.
I’m represented by Sean McCarthy Literary Agency. For headshots, bios, and book covers, check out my Press Kit.
